Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!! The girls got dressed up as Mickey (Lucy) and Minnie (Sami)Mouse. Below is a slide show of the costumes and trick or treating. There are also a couple of videos of the girls. Lucy loved trick or treating. Once she figured out that if she went up to the house with her bag, someone would put candy in it she was ready to go for the rest of the night. She ran from house to house saying "go go go". We had a lot of fun!

Are pumpkin guts good for you?

We went to Cincinnati this past weekend and visited with our friends the Canty's. Both the boys had homework to do on Saturday so Jackie and Tillie took me and the girls to the Children's Museum there. The kids had a blast! There are a couple of pictures from that day. The girls got a long really well but there was still some contention. Needless to say Lucy learned to say the word "Sorry" this weekend! :)
Today we carved a pumpkin for family home evening! Lucy wasn't sure about it at first, but she got into it pretty quick. She especially enjoyed eating the seeds and the guts! She would put it in her mouth and say "MMM". So below are some pictures and then there are a couple of videos of our fun evening!! Tomorrow we will be frosting sugar cookies! That should be interesting!
There are some other random pictures, enjoy!!

Jackson's Orchard

Here are some pictures from our trip to Jackson's Orchard. It is a big apple orchard in Bowling Green. They sell everything you can think of that can be made from an apple. They have hayrides you can take to their pumpkin patch and you can pick out a pumpkin, they had animals the kids could pet and they had a little play room set up made of hay bales with a slide and tunnels they could crawl through. We went with you our friends the Phelps and had a good time. The weather was cool when we left that morning to go, so we all dressed for the cool weather. By the time we got there and got into things it was a lot warmer. Lucky for Lucy we had a short sleeve shirt in the car that we changed her into cause she was getting overheated. Lucy got to feed the goats an apple, there is a video of it below.
Some of the other pictures in the slide show are just everyday life.

"Walking in Memphis"

It was Sam's Fall break this past weekend so we decided we would take a little trip as a family and head down to Memphis, Tennessee. It's about a 4 hour drive from our little town of Hartford, KY. We had originally gone down there to see Graceland, neither of us are big Elvis fans but we thought it would be good to see anyway. Well when we got down there we looked up the address and other info on the internet, come to find out it was $25.00 a person if you had a student ID. A little bit steep for us so we decided to just drive by and see it. Instead we went to the Memphis Zoo and Mud Island. Lucy loves the zoo so much that we bought a season pass to the Nashville Zoo, well this pass we got a 50% discount on entrance fees for the Memphis Zoo. We had tons of fun. We got to see a panda for the first time. They had a little farm animal area and Lucy and Sam got to pet a mini-horse. They were both nervous at first, but not for long. You will notice our make shift "bedroom" for Lucy. Sam hung a sheet up between a mirror and a picture on the wall and made her, her own little area. The second day we went to this place called Mud Island, Sam found it on the internet when he was looking for things to do in Memphis. Neither of us knew exactly what to expect but it was awesome! It's an Island in the Mississippi river. You have to walk or ride across this bridge to get there. When walking across all you can see is an amphitheater, but then you get across the bridge and look over the edge and get to see the real deal. It's a 5 block replica of the Mississippi river starting in Minnesota and ending in Louisiana. Every 30 inches represents 1 mile of the river. It's a topographical map. There is actual water in the this river replica that you can walk in. So Lucy and I walked in it and had lots of fun. We really enjoyed our trip down there! We even got to see some cotton fields. Neither of us have ever seen them before and it was awesome. I didn't get any pictures of the fields because I wasn't quite fast enough with the camera but I did get a picture of how they store the cotton in bales until they are picked up. Below is a slide show of our trip and then 2 videos of Mud Island.

This is Mud Island. Lucy had a blast "Walking the Mississippi". Mud Island was a wonderful surprise! We really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone, especially those with kids!
